When I first began creating websites almost 10 years ago, finding images to use on my site was one of my biggest issues. I used to use a site called Fotolia, where you could buy credits and use the credits to buy and download licensed images. One day I logged in and the site said that my credits had expired. I felt cheated. It was later taken over by Adobe stock.Nevertheless, after that, I couldn’t bring myself to give money to use adobestock, shutterstock, or any other subscribtion based image service.
Ultimately I found several sites offering free images with creative commons licensing. A Creative Commons (CC) license is used when an author gives other people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that they (the author) have created. Among these two, sites became my regular go tos’. Pexels and Pixabay.
Pexels and Pixabay, for whatever reason, have had several WordPress plugins designed by developers which allow you to instantly search and import directly into your site. These wordpress plugins allow you to create without leaving the admin area of your WordPress site.
